init
Give Impeccable the context to design for your project.
On this page 3 sections
Run init when you first set up Impeccable in a project, or when important product context has changed. It saves who the product serves, what they need to do, and what future work must preserve in PRODUCT.md.
Missing or vague context can lead to generic results. A useful product record helps Impeccable make choices for your users, including details it cannot learn from the code alone.
Try it
/impeccable init
Impeccable reads the project first. You fill in the gaps and confirm what it inferred; you do not need to prepare a design brief.
How it works
- Read the project: look at the product docs, features, code, and existing assets before asking questions.
- Confirm the essentials: ask about the audience, their situation, the product’s purpose, and any important constraints. Keep related questions together.
- Save the context: write the agreed facts to
PRODUCT.mdand mark unresolved decisions clearly. - Prepare the next step: record relevant workflow preferences, configure Live Mode where applicable, and suggest a useful place to start.
- Users
- Café managers reordering supplies between shifts, often on a phone.
- Purpose
- Help them repeat a usual order, adjust quantities, and see when it will arrive.
- Constraints
- Delivery dates depend on the selected supplier. Show the date before checkout.
- Evidence on hand
- Existing product photos and supplier schedules. No customer testimonials yet.
Product context and visual design are separate. Init records the product’s needs and existing brand commitments. It does not choose a new palette or write DESIGN.md. Use document to record an existing visual system, or describe what you want to build to start new design work.
What does setup change besides PRODUCT.md?
When image generation is available, Impeccable may ask whether new design work should start with a visual mockup or go straight to code. This sets a project default; you can switch for a particular session in the design picker. Compare mockup first (comp-led) and build directly (code-led). To make mockups available, enable image generation through your coding tool or an OpenAI API key.
For an existing runnable web project, init can also prepare Live Mode’s configuration. Existing configuration is kept. Native apps and projects that cannot run yet skip this step.
Check the result
Read PRODUCT.md. Correct anything Impeccable misunderstood, and make sure uncertain facts are still marked as open. State missing evidence explicitly so future work knows what it can draw on.
If the file already exists, rerun init with what has changed. It should update that context without reopening settled decisions. You can also edit the file yourself.
Continue with shape to plan, critique to review an existing page, or Live Mode to explore changes visually. See Context files for how the project files work together.
